Bohemian Bliss at the Beach — Kavya & Rohit's Goa Wedding

No formal dress code, bare feet in the sand, and a ceremony timed to the sunset. Kavya and Rohit chose Goa for exactly the kind of wedding that breaks every rule — and it was perfect.

Kavya's brief to her wedding planner was one sentence: "I want my guests to feel like they are at the best dinner party of their lives, on a beach, as the sun goes down." Rohit's brief was identical. That alignment, their planner says, is why the whole thing came together so smoothly. Why Goa A wedding in Goa appeals to couples who want something relaxed and visually spectacular without the formality of a palace or a hotel ballroom. North Goa offers buzzing energy and proximity to the airport; South Goa gives you emptier beaches and a slower pace. Kavya and Rohit chose a private beach resort in South Goa — 90 guests, three days, one long shared memory. Their venue came with a catering team that specialised in coastal cuisine: Goan fish curry alongside the traditional dal-baati of Rohit's Marwari family. Guests from Delhi who had never tasted prawn balchão found themselves asking for the recipe before the week was out. The Ceremony at Sundown The mandap was built from driftwood and draped in white muslin, with the Arabian Sea as the backdrop. Their photographer used a drone for the ceremony wide shots — that image of the couple framed by the orange sky and the water has been shared thousands of times on social media. Because the ceremony was outdoors, they hired a professional sound team to handle the wind. "People underestimate audio at a beach wedding," Rohit says. "If the pandit's voice isn't reaching the back row, nobody is emotionally connected to the moment." A live musician played a gentle classical sarod throughout the pheras — a choice that surprised guests and moved many to tears. Budget at a Glance The entire three-day celebration came to approximately ₹28 lakhs, including all décor, catering, accommodation for 40 outstation guests, photography, and entertainment.
